Surah al-Fil recalls the Year of the Elephant, the year of the Prophet's birth
أَلَمۡ تَرَ كَيۡفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِأَصۡحَٰبِ ٱلۡفِيلِ
Have you not considered, [O Muhammad], how your Lord dealt with the companions of the elephant
Before Prophethood
Birth of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
The Prophet ﷺ was born in Makkah in the Year of the Elephant (c. 571 CE), the year Abraha's army was destroyed. He was orphaned early: his father Abdullah died before his birth and his mother Aminah when he was six.
